Established in 1997, Jack of the Wood was one of downtown Asheville’s first pubs and the original home of Green Man Brewing. We serve a great selection of whiskeys, 18 rotating taps featuring local & international craft brews, and an award-winning menu of comfort food favorites & elevated pub fare. Known for our live music showcases, we host our long-running Old-Time Jam Wednesday evenings & our Bluegrass Jam Thursday nights, touring bands Friday & Saturday nights, Bluegrass Brunch Saturdays & Sundays, and our traditional Irish sessions Sunday afternoons & evenings.

We’re sending July out in style this weekend at @jackofthewood with live music all day SATURDAY 7/27! First up at NOON is some spirited “Deep South-grass” courtesy of Savannah’s SWAMPTOOTH, who will take the stage for our midday music matinee! With one foot firmly planted in time-honored bluegrass tradition & a uniquely Southern sound close to their hearts, the band pushes their music past the genre’s boundaries into a surprising, swampy sound all their own! Rounding out the afternoon, the talented ladies of NOBODY’S DARLING STRING BAND will be playing their lively old-time music from 4-6PM! Formed in 2013, the band drew its original inspiration from The Pogues, and has since evolved into a powerhouse of Irish punk music. “KRC” plays rebel music with an upbeat, electric edge — from heavy, Celtic-inspired originals to unique versions of traditional Irish folk songs, smashing through the siloed limitations of musical genres. First up is Celtic roots music courtesy of Virginia’s ONE STREET OVER, who will be taking the stage at NOON for our midday music matinee! The group performs traditional & original songs and tunes, blending voice, flute & whistle, fiddle & cello, bouzouki & mandolin, guitar & bodhran. With backgrounds in bluegrass, classical, punk rock, country, and even marching band, these multi-genre instrumentalists offer haunting and foot-tapping tunes that are sure to put a spring in your step today!
