Francesca Brown with Vaden Landers
COUNTRY • $5 COVER AT DOOR
Vaden Landers is a multi-instrumentalist from East Tennessee, penning songs that evoke the golden era of country music.
As a teen he began traveling America’s highways and railroads, studying American folk music styles such as Old-time, Country, Blues, Cajun & Jug. With a voice often compared to Hank Williams, this former street-busker has gained a reputation in Asheville as one of the city’s finest performers.
Billed as “The Yodeling Country Bluesman”, he plays with an authenticity that he hopes will spread knowledge & enjoyment of classic country music.
Singer-songwriter Francesca Brown is a California native, steeped in the sound and visual traditions of the Southwest. Her love for old-timey country and folk is offset by an inherent Laurel Canyon-meets-California-Country vibe. All of these influences coexist in her evocative soundscapes, which fall somewhere between Joni Mitchell and Loretta Lynn.
Brown’s early life wasn’t always easy moving between southern California and rural Illinois. Home life became a serious challenge, and from her teen years on, in many ways Francesca raised herself. Work ethic was important and she jumped in at an early age and kept on with this cycle, never slowing down. It’s that work ethic and being a mother of two, all while hustling to make ends meet, that truly makes her music country.
